Core Concepts

Keywords vs prompts

Understand how compact topics and full questions are used differently.

Keywords define tracked topics

Keywords are short topic phrases saved on the brand. They are used across report and insight screens for keyword visibility, volumes, rankings, gaps, and opportunities.

Prompts define conversational questions

Prompts are saved as phrases on the brand. They are full natural-language questions and are included with keywords in the audit pipeline so the report can cover conversational intent as well as compact search topics.

The audit uses both

When processing an audit, Brand Auditor combines keywords and prompts into one unique term list. This means a prompt can influence mention rates, citations, share of voice, and recommendations.

Some screens are keyword-only by design

Certain insight screens focus on the brand keywords rather than the full keyword-plus-prompt union. This keeps search-volume, SERP, and discovery workflows aligned with compact search topics.
