Brand Management
Competitor setup
Choose competitors that make benchmarking useful.
What competitor fields store
Competitors are stored as brand/domain pairs. Older records may contain plain domain strings, and the app normalizes both formats when rendering the form and reports.
How competitors affect reporting
Competitors are used for share of voice, competitor comparison, keyword win/loss logic, competitor threat lists, and recommendation context.
If a competitor is not configured, it cannot appear as a configured competitor in those comparison views even if it appears in raw response text.
Choose competitors by customer choice
Use brands a customer would realistically compare against your own. Include the primary website domain so Brand Auditor can match competitor mentions and source signals more reliably.
Revise after an audit
After reviewing report excerpts and competitor screens, update the list if the AI answers repeatedly surface a different brand. Run a new audit after the change to rebuild the comparison.
